JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Program Innovation is a dynamic, impact-driven leader responsible for building and scaling a Future Ready Club experience. Serving as a team member of the Operations Leadership team, this role leads the vision, strategy, and continuous evolution of youth development programming to ensure relevance, quality, and measurable impact. 


The role ensures all programs align with the BGCA Outcome Framework—advancing Health & Well-being, Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Workforce Readiness. From design and partnership development to implementation, evaluation, and refinement—ensuring offerings remain innovative, responsive to youth needs, and aligned with organizational priorities. The Vice President drives strategic program innovation and expansion, cultivates high-impact partnerships, and strengthens program staff culture to support consistent, high-quality delivery across all sites.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES: Strategic Leadership & Program Innovation

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner in designing a high-impact, quality-driven program model that can be effectively tested, evaluated, and scaled across 30+ programs based on measurable outcomes.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Program Innovation Strategy aligned with mission, BGCAZ priorities, and the Whole Child Approach program.
  • Identify emerging trends and pilot innovative program models, curricula, and delivery methods; Establishes systems and frameworks that ensure programs remain relevant and responsive to youth needs.
  • Lead with an adaptive change leadership approach, guiding teams through evolving priorities, navigating challenges, and driving continuous improvement across all sites.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES: Program Partnership & Outreach

  • Strengthen and expand program partnerships with external organizations to create diverse, high-quality opportunities for youth.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to elevate program visibility, youth voice, and organizational impact through storytelling and communications.
  • Engage with board members, community stakeholders, and families to strengthen program reach and relevance.
  • Partner with Resource Development to align program data, outcomes, and storytelling with funding strategies and grant requirements.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for youth development and program impact.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES: Program Culture & Lifecycle

  • Develop and coach program leaders across youth and teen programs while fostering a strong, positive program culture grounded in clear expectations, consistent feedback, and accountability for delivering high-quality, youth-centered experiences.
  • Encourage innovation by taking informed risks on new program strategies that enhance engagement and outcomes for young people.
  • Oversees the full lifecycle of programs—including design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement—for both BGCA and locally developed offerings (could include curriculum design).
  • Ensures programs are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with youth development best practices and organizational standards.
  • Establishes and monitors program quality and safety standards to ensure consistency and excellence across all sites.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES: Program Operations & Impact

  • Establish KPIs and metrics tied to Health & Well-being, Character & Leadership, Academic Success and Workforce Readiness.
  • Leads program evaluation efforts by leveraging data, feedback, and assessment tools to measure effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate for data collection, evaluation, and reporting efforts to measure program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
  • Support organizational operations including budgeting, resource allocation, and program-related compliance; Ensures alignment with program expenditures and the approved budgets.
  • Establishes systems for program operations, reporting, and performance management to ensure efficiency, accountability, and scalability.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Youth Development, Education, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in youth development, program strategy, or nonprofit management.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS

  • Expertise in designing, scaling, and evaluating high-quality youth development programs that drive engagement and measurable impact across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives and competing priorities, while building and sustaining strategic partnerships with community organizations, schools, and external partners in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change, foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, and build, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong background in program evaluation, data analysis, and outcome measurement tied to youth impact.
  • Experience managing budgets, grants, and program-related compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with BGCA or similar youth development frameworks strongly preferred.

The Vice President of Program Innovation ensures that all youth have access to high-quality, innovative, and outcomes-driven programs, while building the systems, partnerships, and team needed to sustain and scale that impact over time.

WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING

  • Travel between Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley site and schools and various field trip sites as well as in the community is required. Must meet the insurance standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley 
  • Work is performed in the community as well as an office setting 
  • Evening or weekend hours required on an as needed basis
