JOB SUMMARY |
The Senior Accounting Manager manages the Organization’s accounting transactions and maintains standards of performance. In addition to ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, this position will provide accurate, timely and relevant recording and reporting of financial information. The Senior Accounting Manager oversees the implementation of accounting policies, manages the general ledger and acts as a point-of-contact for audits. |
JOB RESPONSBILITIES |
- Enters financial transactions utilizing fund accounting practices

- Reviews sub-ledger transactions for accuracy and serving as backup for Account Payables, Account Receivables and Payroll
| |
- Prepares reports on financial activities, such as statement of activities, financial position, cash flow
| |
- Manages reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure accuracy and identifying/mitigating potential risks
| |
- Manages Fixed Assets module and inventory
| |
- Enters all reoccurring journal entries and accruals as needed
| |
- Oversees all vendor contracts including conducting cost analyses, renewals and performance
| |
- Prepares grant budgets and subsequent billings and reporting
| |
- Maintains Chart of Accounts for current needs and accuracy
| |
- Prepares schedules and oversee the completion of the annual audit
| |
- Manages school financials and reporting according to AZ Department of Education guidelines
| |
- Assists with onboarding and training of staff regarding Accounting policies and procedures
| |
- Identifies and implements efficient solutions to automate finance processes and systems
| |
- Assists with the preparation and upload of budgets
- Creates and manage variance reports for end users
| |
- Encourages BGCAZ “Rules of Engagement” and incorporates into day-to-day interactions with staff
| |
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION |
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 7+ years of accounting experience

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS |
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel power-user)
- Highly detail oriented.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger fund accounting and account reconciliation.
- Knowledge of GAAP and FASB rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct multiple activities with varied deadlines and deliver in a timely manner
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex information and recommend efficient, practical and high impact solutions/systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively while demonstrating emotional intelligence

WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING |
- Travel between BGCAZ Branches, schools and community sites is required
- Work is performed in our Program Services Center-Administrative offices
