The Esports Specialist works with Branch leadership and Youth Development Professionals to ensure high-quality Esports programming is implemented at branches using high quality youth development practices. Boys & Girls Clubs offers daily access to a broad range of programs including Esports. The Esports program is designed to drive positive outcomes in the area of Healthy Lifestyles. This includes social emotional wellness, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution. The Esports Specialist is responsible for program implementation, member program coordination, equipment set-up/breakdown and supervision of programs and activities for youth and/or teens. This position will implement BGCAZ Esports curriculum at multiple branches in 2-week increments. | |
JOB RESPONSBILITIES |
- Employs BGCAZ “Rules of Engagement” in day-to-day interactions with staff
|
- Facilitates programs/sessions modeling group management, program instruction, and youth engagement practices to ensure healthy and safe program environments
|
- Implements BGCAZ’s Esports curriculum to youth and teens
|
- Plan, promote, and conduct special events, recruiting members for activities, tournaments and leagues
|
- Participate in a BGCAZ meetings and work committees
|
- Maintenance of BGCAZ’s Esports equipment. Includes updating consoles and software, routine inventory of equipment, recommendations of new software and accessories.

- Maintains high-level expertise and remains current on latest trends in the areas of Esports gaming
|
- Track attendance and outcomes of Esports Programming
|
- Works with other Youth Development Professionals to coach and model Esports implementation
|
- Transports youth and/or teens to during Club sponsored activities to enhance programming and special experiences
|
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION | |
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Must obtain/maintain a current CPR and First Aid (within first 90 days of employment)
- Must have availability of a 5-day work week
- Must have competitive Esports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and knowledge of Rocket League, NBA 2K, Madden Football, Super Smash Brother, or similar games.
- Must be comfortable with various consoles and gaming equipment spanning all genres.
- Preferred knowledge and experience of gaming communities including but not limited to Discord and Twitch
- Demonstrated good work attendance/work performance

- Ability to articulate for giving, serve as an ambassador, engage in relationship building and promote philanthropy
- Ability to support the efficiency of Volunteers and future workforce needs to support volunteer program operations
