JOB SUMMARY |
The Academic & Scholarships Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the enrichment programs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley within our academic success priority outcome pillar; which includes education and arts. This role is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of education and arts-based initiatives that align to the Formula for Impact. The Academic & Scholarships Manager is also responsible for the support of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley scholarship recipients. This role provides case management services to students by providing guidance and educational support to achieve goals successfully; as well as connect them with different resources to eliminate or minimize academic barriers. |
JOB RESPONSBILITIES |
- Leads the design and implementation of programs in the Academic Success area, including arts, and integrate academic enrichment strategies into the Club environment utilizing BGCA and locally developed resources.
- Reviews curriculum and develop systems to maintain consistent, high-quality programs and services that support academic enrichment and skill development through a trauma informed, strength-based approach.
- Guides program delivery, ensuring that programs are delivered effectively, and desired outcomes are achieved as related to Academic Success outcomes and/or grant funding
- Monitors participant engagement, evaluate program effectiveness with data-drive approaches, and utilize continuous quality improvement practices to identify areas for improvement
- Supports the organization of events, workshops, and collaborations that enrich the cultural and educational offerings of the organization.
- Coordinates with Club leadership, community partners, higher education institutions to expand opportunities available to Club youth, to improve programming, increase staff training opportunities and/or access to services.
- Collaborates with Data & Evaluation team to collect and evaluate regular data on program engagement and outcomes.
- Represents the organization at relevant events and conferences to showcase program achievements.
- Carries a caseload of 60 to 80 scholarship recipients by maintaining accurate records and notes for each student
- Recruits and prescreen applicants
- Administers scholarship payments to universities and institutions
- Develops and submits student progress reports to scholarship funder
- Serves as a liaison between student and scholarship funder to ensure students are completing academic requirements
- Provides additional scholarship opportunities and financial aid information to current and former members

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION |
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license
- Minimum of 6 months youth development and program development experience
- Minimum of 6 months grants experience, program assessment, data analysis and reporting experience

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS |
- Familiarity with current trends in arts and education, including innovative out-of-school time facilitation methodologies and technology integration
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor various teams
- Proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING |
- Travel between BGCAZ Branches, schools and community sites is required. Must meet the insurance standards of BGC.
- Work is performed in Branches, the community as well as an office setting.
- Evening or weekend hours required on an as needed basis
